A work on Rhetoric, in five chapters, by Bhanudatta or Bhanukara, son of Gananatha of Mithila. For his Rasatarangini and Rasamanjari,cf. Nos. 149 and 151 below. He quotes from Kavyaprakas’a, Sarasvatikanthabharana,Raghuvans’a, and Gitagovinda. On fol. 9b, 11,11b &c, some verses of his father are quoted.According to Winternitz, Geschichte, III. p, 24,Bhanudatta lived in the 13th century A. D.For another M3., cf. Burnell, Tanjore MSS. p. 54a.The first chapter is introductory; the division of Kavya into Uttama, Madhyama and Adhama, based upon suggestiveness is discarded; it is based on Gunas and Alankaras. The first chapter ends on fol. 4; the second, which treats of Dosas, ends on fol, 8b; the third, treating of Gunas, ends on fol. 11; the fourth contains S’abdalankaras and ends on fol. 13; the fifth contains Arthalankaras. |
